Introduction
The Cardrona Glenorchy Shotover hunting area includes almost 40,000 hectares of mountainous land in the Humboldt eastern faces, Richardson Mountains, and in the Shotover, Motatapu and Cardrona River catchments. The area lies between Lake Wanaka and the head of Lake Wakatipu, so Wanaka, the Shotover River or Glenorchy are the main access points.
Climate
The area is mostly alpine and very cold in winter. It can be hot in summer although the weather is changeable at all times of the year.
