Greening Taupō
Aim: To improve the Taupō environment for people and native wildlife through restoration planting and pest control. Particular attention is focused on access routes to and from Taupō that will also help create a sense of arrival for Taupō. It is a collaborative project and has planted more than 35,000 plants throughout the district. Join a community planting day or plant in your own backyard.
National Trout Centre Society
Aim: To foster public understanding of the Taupō trout fishery, other freshwater fisheries and freshwater ecology.

Project Tongariro
Aim: To promote a wider knowledge and understanding of the flora, fauna, geology, climate and the natural and human history of Tongariro National Park. The group works in partnership with DOC and undertake a number of conservation projects. Volunteers can join field trips, become members, adopt a hectare at Lake Rotopounamu, make a donation and take part in the Mahi Aroha Summer Programme activities
