Fiordland dog access
Introduction
Where you can and can't take your dog on public conservation land in the Fiordland region.Areas dogs are not allowed
- Unless by special permit, dogs are not allowed in Fiordland National Park, including in Milford Sound.
- Burwood Bush Reserve – map of Burwood Bush Reserve closed area (PDF, 950K).
- Pyke Forest and Awarua Point Conservation Areas.

- tracks in the Fiordland region you can take your dog
- hunting areas in Fiordland you can take your dog.
Select the 'dogs allowed' filter option on these pages.
There are currently no campsites in Fiordland where you can take your dog.

If you're unsure about dog access in a particular area, check with the nearest DOC office or visitor centre before you set out.

A dog permit for controlled access areas is required to take dogs into these areas. You can get a dog permit from the Fiordland National Park Visitor Centre.
No permit needed
