DOC visitor centre moves to Napier i-SITE

i-SITE staff will now be able to assist members of the public with most DOC-related enquiries, from tramping information to hut bookings. Phone enquiries for visitor information should be directed to the i-SITE at +64 6 834 1911.

The Hawke's Bay DOC visitor centre has officially closed. The office itself – located at 59 Marine Parade – is still open to the public between 9 am and 4 pm weekdays (excluding public holidays).

Information on dog and hunting permits can be obtained from the DOC office at +64 6 834 3111. Pre-booked hut visitors can also pick up hut keys from the office.

'By partnering with the Napier i-SITE, we're increasing the visibility and accessibility of DOC's services in Hawke's Bay,' says Dave Carlton, Operations Manager for the district. 'The i-SITE is a go-to resource for people looking to learn more about a local area. This collaboration will allow us to showcase DOC alongside the many other activities and resources Hawke's Bay has to offer.'

'People are keen to learn more about the natural resources that our area is known for,' adds Sally Jackson, Manager Visitor Experiences for Napier City Council. 'Tramping and exploring the outdoors are significant attractions for Hawke's Bay. Our team will continue to work directly with DOC to provide customers the same services the Napier visitor centre previously offered.'

The Napier i-SITE, located at 100 Marine Parade, is open seven days a week (excluding Christmas) from 9 am to 5 pm. Opening hours are extended during the summer season.

Background information

The former DOC visitor centre was located at the Conservation House on 59 Marine Parade. The building will continue to serve as staff headquarters for the Hawke's Bay District.
