Pelorus Bridge campground and café tender opportunity

DOC ran an open tender process for the opportunity to operate Pelorus Bridge café and campground. Tenders closed 25 September 2023.Tender applications closed

A successful tender applicant was invited to apply for a concession and the application has been received by DOC. DOC are currently running a publicly notified process on this application.

Tender process
DOC sought detailed tender applications for the management of facilities at Pelorus Bridge, including the operation of a café and campground under a concession.
The request for tender applications was run under s17ZG(2)(a) of the Conservation Act 1987. This enables DOC to tender the right to make an application, invite applications or carry out other actions to encourage specific applications for this activity.
A successful applicant will then be invited to make a formal application under Part 3B of the Act and may be granted a concession to manage the DOC facilities at Pelorus Bridge.
About the Pelorous Bridge site
Pelorus Bridge café and campsite is located at 5949 State Highway 6, approximately halfway between Blenheim and Nelson on State Highway 6.
The property is set over approximately 3 hectares within the Pelorus Bridge Scenic Reserve and Pelorus Bridge Recreation Reserve, amongst mature bush on the banks of the Te Hoiere/Pelorus River.
