Introduction

These statutory and advisory bodies report to the Minister of Conservation.

    New Zealand Conservation Authority - NZCA

    The NZCA / Te Pou Atawhai Taiao O Aotearoa is a national statutory body that provides strategic policy advice to DOC and the Minister.
    Conservation boards

    Conservation boards

    Conservation Boards share in a vision to protect our flora and fauna. They represent the public interest in conservation within their region.
    Fish and game councils

    Fish and game councils

    Fish and game councils manage sports fish and game resources on behalf of anglers and game bird hunters.
    Game Animal Council

    Game Animal Council

    The Game Animal Council is a statutory body that represents the interests of the hunting sector and improves the management of hunting resources while contributing to positive conservation outcomes.

    Nature Heritage Fund Committee

    This advisory committee provides recommendations to the Minister on the Nature Heritage Fund.

    Queen Elizabeth II National Trust Board of Directors

    The Trust seeks to protect and enhance open spaces of ecology and cultural significance, and its Board of Directors is responsible for the executive control and management of the Trust.

    The Board represents iwi and community interests to manage the Taupō Waters as if they were a reserve for recreation purposes.

    Guardians of Lake Wānaka

    The Guardians of Lake Wānaka advises the Minister of Conservation over Lake Wānaka related issues.
    Guardians of Lakes Manapouri, Monowai and Te Anau

    Guardians of Lakes Manapouri, Monowai and Te Anau

    The Guardians make recommendations to the Minister of Conservation over issues relating to the operation of the Manapouri Power Scheme operated by Meridian Energy and the Monowai Power Scheme operated by Pioneer Energy.
    Kaikōura Marine Guardians

    Kaikōura Marine Guardians

    The Guardians provide advice to the Ministers of Conservation and Primary Industries, and to any persons exercising statutory powers in the area, on matters related to Te Tai-o-Marokura.
