Located in Takitimu, Snowdon, Mavora, Eyre Mountains hunting in the Southland region
The Mavora Lakes Park covers approximately 35,000 ha of rugged, steep, scree mountain country. Vegetation cover is beech forest, scrubland and tussock grasslands. The area has a cool temperate climate with an annual rainfall of 1600 – 5600 mm. Snow may lie for several weeks above 1000 m during winter.
Access to the Mavora area is from either Mavora Lakes Road or Centre Hill Road, both leading off from the Mossburn/Te Anau SH94.

Pigs - low numbers
You can hunt with dogs in the Mavora Lakes Park, permits for dogs are not required.
