Located in Whanganui District hunting in the Manawatu/Whanganui region
Fallow deer, goats and pigs are present in these reserves.
Nukuhau Conservation Area is podocarp/tawa forest. Omahine Conservation Area is podocarp/tawa forest with some beech ridges and some regenerating native shrubland. The Okahutiria Conservation Area is predominately regenerating forest.
There is also a grazing licence issued for the clearings in Okahutiria Conservation Area. All three blocks have steep topography with deep gorges. Kiwi are known to be present.
Nukuhau and Okahutaria Conservation Area: turn off State Highway 3 1 km west of Waverley onto Kohi Road then onto Okahautiria Road which changes to Mataimoana Road. Each of these blocks is bordered by the roads.
Omahine Conservation Area: turn off State Highway 3 at Waitotara onto Ngutuwera Road, then right onto Mangawhio Road, then left onto Weraweraonga Road. Continue along the formed road to the gate. From the road end there is a 3 km walk to the southern boundary and approximately another 2 km to the northern boundary. The track is only suitable for walking due to a number of slips.

A separate permit is required to hunt with dogs. All dogs must be avian avoidance certified. Contact the local DOC office for details.
