About this hunting block

Location

Harkness Hut is located up a side tributary of the Ngaawapurua (Harkness) Stream.

Access

Hunters visiting the Harkness area can choose between bush or open top hunting. The hut location provides easy access to the adjoining beech forest. Open top areas can be reached by climbing north to Bare Top, heading south west to the Te Rua Tops or climbing up to the Te Puke Tops. Deer may be seen on these tops during early morning and late evening.

Making the best use of main tracks when planning a hunting adventure will help ensure a safe and easy return.

Dogs

Only registered, avian aversion certified hunting dogs, guide dogs, companion dogs (certified by the Top Dog Companion Trust) and dogs used for special services (including conservation management activities) are permitted in the park. All other dogs are banned.
