Introduction

Book huts, campsites and lodges including huts and campsites on Great Walks.

Booking periods and booking opening dates vary between facilities. Not all facilities can be booked.

Opening dates for 1 July 2023 – 30 June 2024 bookings

Great Walk bookings for the 2023/24 season have been delayed. The new opening dates will be confirmed 31 May 2023. See Great Walks for individual dates. 

Huts, campsite and lodge bookings have been delayed and will open mid-June 2023. The confirmed dates will be announced 31 May 2023.

All bookings operate on a first-come first-served basis. We do not operate waiting lists for bookings for future seasons, or currently booked-out facilities.

Great Walks pricing for summer

There is different pricing for international and New Zealand visitors on most Great Walks.

DOC staff will be doing random checks at visitor centres and huts to ensure people have paid the correct fee. If you are claiming the New Zealand rate, be prepared and take the required identification.
