New interpretation for Queen Charlotte Track

Introduction
15 new interpreation panels on the track tell stories about the landscape.Date: 22 June 2017
Visitors to the Queen Charlotte Track will now be able to learn more about the area, thanks to series of 15 new interpretation panels that span the length of the 70 km track.
The signs have been two years in the making, with extensive consultation with iwi, landowners, commercial operators and community groups involved in the track.
The track is managed in partnership between DOC, Marlborough District Council and the Queen Charlotte Track Landowners Co-operative.
Most of the stories on the panels are based on features seen from popular viewpoints.
“Our consultation told us that visitors primarily want to know landscape features they are looking at”, said Picton Community Ranger Wendy Sullivan. “There are over 50 stories on the panels, so there should be something of interest for everybody”.
DOC rangers installed the panels with 12 keen Yealands staff members last week. The interpretation project was funded by Yealands Family Wines.
