The grazing concession for the current occupant has expired and we're open to expressions of interest for this area. We invite interested parties to submit their interest through our Expression of Interest ‘EOI’ process. Information gathered from the EOI will assist us to develop a process which best reflects public interest in this concession opportunity.

Aotea/Great Barrier Island lies in the outer Hauraki Gulf, 100 km north-east of central Auckland. With an area of 285 square kilometres, it's the sixth-largest island of New Zealand and fourth largest in the main chain. The local authority is the Auckland Council.
The roughly 290 ha portion of the Okiwi Recreation Reserve is located near the northeastern Whangapoua Creek (Estuary) near Okiwi and is comprised of numerous smaller blocks scattered along the edge of Mabey Road and Aotea Road.
