The East Cost Conservation Management Strategy (CMS) is the first conservation management strategy for the East Coast region.

The purpose of this CMS is to set out the management directions for DOC in the East Coast region. It has been prepared in accordance with Part IIIA of the Conservation Act 1987.

The CMS remains operative unless formally reviewed in full, in part or amended.

CMS review

DOC started a review of the East Coast CMS as part of a process amalgamating the East Coast and Hawke’s Bay into one CMS region reflecting the Conservation Board boundaries.

DOC appreciates the valuable input of our Treaty partners, conservation boards and community into this initial review.

Until the review has been completed the 1998 CMS remains operative.
