General information

Bungaree is a coastal block in Rakiura National Park.

How to book restricted hunting blocks and apply for hunting permits.

Bookings are required and can be made up to 12 months in advance. Check availability of Stewart Island hunting blocks.

Access

Hunting blocks can be accessed by sea or air. You need to organise your own transport to and from the block. We recommend learning about transport options before you apply. Visit the Stewart Island website for more information.

Facilities: 16 bunk beds, heating, mattresses, toilets - non-flush, water from tap - not treated, boil before use
Bookings not required - first come, first served

Hunters can only use half the bunks in this hut – the hut is shared with trampers. Be prepared to camp if party sizes exceed this ratio. Bunks aren't guaranteed with a hunting block booking.
