Momorangi Bay campground rules
Read the rules that apply to the Momorangi Bay campground.

Momorangi Bay is a family campground. All campers and visitors must be prepared to contribute to the family atmosphere by following these rules. Campers or visitors found in breach of our rules may be asked to leave immediately. No refunds will be given.

Arrivals and departures

  • All campers must register at the office on arrival and before setting up.
  • Check-in is 2 pm. Fees apply for early check in with prior arrangement and if available.
  • Campsites must be vacated by 10 am or late departure fees may be incurred.

Vehicle use and parking

  • All caravans and campervans must have a current Electrical Warrant of Fitness (EWOF). If your EWOF is not current you will not be able to connect to power.
  • All tents, caravans and motorhomes must be 1.5 m inside the boundary of your site for fire safety.
  • All vehicles including trailers or boats must be within your site. A $100 fee will be charged if these are not placed within your site and need to be removed. Limited storage areas are available.
  • All rubbish and recycling must be taken to the area behind the Camp Office.
  • Friends and family not booked to camp must park in the daylight parking areas on Queen Charlotte Drive. They may not use campground facilities. Day user toilets are available in the central ablution block on the waterfront reserve.
  • The speed limit within the campground is 10 km per hour. This also applies to all vehicles.
  • Helmets must be worn when riding bikes through the campground. No bikes or scooters are permitted on any decks.
  • All vehicles in the campground must display a current registration sticker.

Prohibited behaviour and equipment

  • No pets. This includes dogs, cats and caged birds.
  • Excessive noise will not be tolerated at any time, especially our 'quiet hours' between 9:30 pm and 6:30 am. New Year’s Eve campers can celebrate within reason.
  • Unsociable behaviour will not be tolerated. You will be asked to leave with no refund provided.
  • No disruptive or intoxicated behaviour, or use of abusive or obscene language. No nudity on the beach or in the campground.
  • No use of chainsaws, generators, compressors, amplifiers or stereo systems is allowed. This includes running of vehicles to charge batteries.
  • All music must be listened to through headphones.

Safety practices

  • Do not enter an ablution block when closed for cleaning for your health and safety. Use one of the other facilities.
  • No digging holes, cutting trees or wilful damage to DOC property. All vegetation, native birds and native animals, including eels, are protected and are not to be interfered with.
