Camp, swim, fish, or relax beside the river in the Waimana valley. Take your binoculars for birdwatching.Te Urewera is recognised in New Zealand law as a living person. Te Urewera is spoken for and governed by a board. Care for Te Urewera, including the tracks and facilities, is carried out by Te Uru Taumatua – Ngāi Tūhoe’s operational entity.

Pay your fees with cash at the self-registration stand at the campsite or to the camp warden if present. Put the correct fee in the envelope provided and place the receipt section of the envelope on your vehicle or tent.

Passes
The DOC Campsite Pass cannot be used at this campsite.
Follow Bell Rd off SH2 near Waimana and then onto Matahi Valley Rd. The campsite is 18 km from SH2.
Access: Gravel mid-Matahi Valley Rd.
