Access track to the beach is directly across Waikawau Beach Road.
This accommodation is Pack In Pack Out. There are no rubbish or recycling facilities. Waikawau Bay Campsite may have composting for food waste only.
The closest refuse transfer station is 525 Hauraki Road, Coromandel Town. See Thames Coromandel District Council website for opening hours and other transfer stations.

Over the Christmas school holiday period, bookings are for sole occupancy. Outside this period, bookings can be for a bunk room.
A $10 service fee applies to phone and in-person booking. This is a limited service – book online first. An in-person booking is dependent on there being space available.
Situated at Waikawau Bay on the North Eastern coast of the Coromandel Peninsula, 13 km north east of Colville.
The road north of Colville is mostly unsealed, narrow and winding in places and requires careful driving especially during holiday times.
The nearest shop is at Waikawau Bay Campsite. The shop operates from late December until early February, and is only 5 minutes drive, so you can have all the comforts of home and everything you need for your stay during this period.
Colville General Store, a 13 km drive, is the next most convenient store, or the shops at Coromandel township.
A great place to swim, fish, surf, walk or just relax .
Matamataharakeke Track begins opposite the Waikawau Bay campsite office (3 hr return, 6.5 km).
