Rangitahi/Molesworth Recreation Reserve is an iconic high county reserve with rich Māori and farming history. The area is home to the historic Acheron Accommodation House and Molesworth Cob Cottage.

There are several historic huts that can be visited in the Ka Whata Tu o Rakihouia Clarence area: Black Spur Slab Hut, Bluff Dump Hut, Horse Flat Hut, Old Willows Hut and Tent Poles Hut.

Meretoto/Ship Cove was James Cook’s favourite New Zealand base during his three voyages of exploration. It is also part of the rich history of Polynesian navigation and has great significance for local Māori.
