This report describes the results of ongoing population monitoring of New Zealand sea lions at the Auckland islands. This is the final report for the 2005/06 year.

Summary

This report outlines the work completed in the summer programme of the 2005/06 New Zealand sea lion (NZ sea lion, Phocarctos hookeri) research field trip to the Auckland Islands. The period covered in this report is from 2 December 2005 when the first team arrived on Enderby Island through to the departure of the second team from the Island on 17 February 2006.

The report is divided into three parts covering field trip logistics, population dynamics results, and survival and reproductive performance of female NZ sea lions.
