An upgrade programme to the roading and associated signage at the Department of Conservation (DOC) Matata campsite will get underway from Monday 12 November and is expected to be completed in two weeks.

The public can expect some disruption at the campsite with machinery, noise and associated dust, but it will still be open for business. The contractors will be working to minimise any disruption for users says Acting Programme Manager, Visitor and Historic Assets, Malcolm Smith.

The Matata campsite (off Arawa Street in Matata township) is adjacent to the Matata wildlife refuge a haven for wetland bird species with walking tracks and viewing areas.
