Hunt in Pureora Forest Park with a current permit and be in to win. Competition details for 2022 are to be confirmed.

The annual Pureora Hunting Competition will not be held in 2022.

DOC wants to stop the spread of the virus and keep communities safe. Hosting a hunting event with a large gathering of people is not a risk DOC is prepared to take, with ten’s of thousands of daily cases reported in New Zealand.

The hunting competition was also cancelled in 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and limits on gatherings under the previous COVID-19 alert levels systems.

We appreciate this will be disappointing for the hunting community but we feel it’s the right decision in the circumstances. We are not discouraging you to hunt safely in Pureora.

We hope to deliver the competition in 2023.
