Introduction

Have your say on the Minister of Conservation's intention to grant a concession to The Otago Central Rail Trail Charitable Trust on the former Hyde Railway Station site. Submissions close Monday 19 February 2018.

The Minister of Conservation gives notice of her intention to grant a 30 year lease / licence under section 17Q of the Conservation Act 1987 for the exclusive use (lease) of the land under the Hyde Railway Station building. It will be used as a part static museum and non-exclusive use (licence) of the rolling stock and curtilage area for rest space and heritage experience for the general public and users of The Otago Central Rail Trail.

How to submit

Any person or organisation may object in writing to the Director-General against the proposal, or make written submissions on the proposal.

Submissions will be accepted up to and including 19 February 2018.

Note that submitters' information could be disclosed under the Official Information Act 1982 and submissions are part of the statutory process and may be commented on by the applicant.

Hearings

Any person or organisation wishing to be heard in support of his/her objection, or submission, must request (in that objection/submission) an opportunity to appear before the Director-General.

If a hearing is required, it is likely to occur on the week starting 5 March 2018.
