Getting there

Follow SH6A/Frankton Road, the main road into central Queenstown. Turn onto Stanley Street.

Carparking is available across the road on Ballarat Street.

Opening hours

  • May to October: 8:15 am – 4:15 pm Monday – Friday. Closed weekends. 
  • November to April: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm daily
  • Anzac Day 25 April: 1 pm – 4:30 pm
  • Open on public holidays, except Christmas Day 25 December

Deepen your understanding of the local area with our interactive displays and interpretation panels. You'll find information about:

  • local Ngāi Tahu place names and the area's history of pounamu gathering and goldmining
  • native flora and fauna, including a digital touch screen where you can listen to native bird song.
