Introduction

The visitor centre (also known as North Taranaki Visitor Centre) is located at Egmont Road end, the main gateway into the national park (proposed to be named Te Papa-Kura-o-Taranaki).

Nau mai, haere mai. On arrival at the road end call into the centre for an introduction to the national park. Get expert advice and in-depth local knowledge from our friendly staff on recreational opportunities, current safety messages and conservation.

The visitor centre is at 945 m above sea level, it can get cold here so come prepared.

Getting there

Taranaki/ Egmont National Park Visitor Centre is on the northern side of the national park. Dawson Falls Visitor Centre is on the south-eastern side.

We are located at the end of Egmont Road in Egmont National Park, 30 minutes’ drive from New Plymouth.

  • 8.30 am – 3.30 pm daily
  • Closed Christmas Day 25 December
