Introduction
The visitor centre is located at Egmont Road end, the main gateway into the national park, Te Papa-Kura-o-Taranaki, formerly known as Egmont National Park.Limited parking at North Egmont road end
Car parking at the North Egmont road end is limited until December 2026 due to construction of the new visitor centre.
Large trucks will be using the road, so please drive carefully and expect occasional delays. We recommend carpooling or using a shuttle if you're planning a visit. The North Taranaki Visitor remains open.

Nau mai, haere mai. On arrival at the road end call into the centre for an introduction to the national park. Get expert advice and in-depth local knowledge from our friendly staff on recreational opportunities, current safety messages and conservation.
The visitor centre is at 945 m above sea level - it can get cold here so come prepared. During winter months the road up to the visitor centre can be icy. We suggest calling the visitor centre to check on road conditions before heading up.

Getting there
North Taranaki Visitor Centre is on the northern side of the national park. Dawson Falls Visitor Centre is on the south-eastern side.
We are located at the end of Egmont Road in Te Papa-Kura-o-Taranaki, 30 minutes’ drive from New Plymouth.
