Summary
The conservation status of 78 freshwater fish species in New Zealand was reassessed using the New Zealand Threat Classification System (NZTCS).
This report provides a list of these species, along with a statistical summary and brief notes on the most important changes since the previous assessment. It also includes more detailed descriptions of the distribution, change in status, preferred habitats and threats for each species.
In total:
- 1 species is Extinct
- 22 species are Threatened
- 25 species are At Risk
- 6 species are Not Threatened
- 3 species are Non-resident Native
- 21 species are Introduced and Naturalised.
