Introduction

This report presents the latest assessment of the extinction risk of native amphibians in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Summary

The conservation status of all 21 native amphibian species in New Zealand was reassessed using the New Zealand Threat Classification System (NZTCS).

This report provides a list of these species, along with a statistical summary and brief notes on the most important changes since the previous assessment.

In total:

  • 3 species are Extinct
  • 5 species are Threatened
  • 8 species are At Risk
  • 4 species are Introduced and Naturalised
  • 1 species is Data Deficient.
