This plan provides the management framework for 1700 hectares of public lands, including Ngahere o Pukenui (partially administered by DOC) and the Whau Valley Catchment, the Coronation Scenic Reserve, the Maunu Scenic Reserve, Barge Showgrounds and the Whangarei Quarry Gardens (administered by the Whangarei District Council).

Summary

This plan provides the management framework for 1700 hectares of public lands, including Ngahere o Pukenui (partially administered by the Department of Conservation) and the Whau Valley Catchment, the Coronation Scenic Reserve, the Maunu Scenic Reserve, Barge Showgrounds and the Whangarei Quarry Gardens (administered by the Whangarei District Council). For a complete list of land titles and status covered by the plan, see Appendix 1.

The plan meets the purpose of a Reserve Management Plan, in accordance with Section 41 of the Reserves Act 1977.

The plan also serves as a Conservation Management Plan for the Department of Conservation-administered area of Ngahere o Pukenui, under the requirements of the Conservation Act 1987 (section 17E), and is consistent with the Conservation Management Strategy – Northland 2014 - 2024.

The relationship of the management plan to any iwi management plans prepared for the area has yet to be determined.
